Very rare typewriter Remington Portable model #1, which was produced from Oct. 1920-Jan. 1925. Total production probably reached 400,000. The Remington Portable was first exhibited at the New York Business Show in October, 1920. Its manufacture began shortly thereafter but for many months only a limited number of machines were available for delivery. It has a unique method of raising the typebars to a printing position by means of a lever on the right side of the typewriter. Still working, although not perfectly. Made for Czech market.
